I'm pretty shocked by Azealia Banks's reaction to Dolce & Gabbana's 'blackamoor' earrings.
I'm not shocked that she'd be offended -- I'm more shocked on that front that MORE people weren't speaking out against an obviously misguided statement by the designers -- but rather I'm shocked that very, very, little of the coverage of Azealia's reaction has covered the inherent homophobia of her response. I don't want to make any value judgements about Azealia here (I know next to nothing about the woman) but I'd suggest you have a poor platform for rhetoric when in arguing against an offensive viewpoint you play right into an equally offensive slur.
Unless, as Molls suggests, this was her point all along. It would be nice to think so, but I somehow doubt it.
